On July 3, The Crape Myrtle Council, Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce & and Convention and Visitors Bureau, will host Go PINK. Go GREEN., a celebration with crape myrtles in full bloom during the 13th Annual Crape Myrtle Festival and Parade. The patriotic celebration will begin on Saturday, July 3 at 10 a.m. with a hometown parade. The parade will start at College Street and end in Getzendaner Park. The celebration will continue at 5 p.m. with a Tailgate Party in the parking lot of Lumpkins Stadium. The top three contestants from “Battle of the Bands” will take the stage at 6 p.m., 7 p.m., and 8 p.m. Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and their barbecue grills to cook-out before or during the show. The tailgate party will also feature a children’s area with a rock climbing wall and bounce house activities. Following the concert will be the spectacular H-E-B fireworks display. Waxahachie is designated by the State Legislature as the Crape Myrtle Capital of Texas. A map of the Crape Myrtle Driving Trail is available at the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce or the Heritage Visitor Center located in the Ellis County Museum. The Crape Myrtle Festival and Parade are FREE to the public.
