Review The Catfish Plantation - When the Catfish Plantation Restaurant in Waxahachie, Texas is mentioned, the first thing people usually ask is "that's the haunted restaurant, isn't it?" Yes, it is. It is known far and wide in that realm. However, we locals know they have the best catfish around. | Savor Bistro & Bar |

After hearing the extensive dessert menu it was hard to make a choice. We finally settled on Mocha Chocolate Cheesecake. It was heaven on a spoon. The light mocha filling was at least two inches high atop a chocolate crumb crust with dark chocolate sauce drizzled underneath. It was beautiful to look at but was even better eaten. What a great way to end a great meal.
While here we also studied the lunch menu. Black explained that the lunch menu is undergoing a major overhaul and we should expect a new menu within a couple of weeks. We can hardly wait to see what is offered. What they have on the lunch menu now sounds so good I can't imagine how it could be topped. But stay tuned.
We were lucky enough to be here for the first night of live music to be offered every Saturday evening from 7:00 until 10:00 pm. As Black explained, "the music we offer will be everything from jazz to standards to easy listening. The music will hopefully enhance the dining experience." The group playing Saturday evening, Jaz-Zil, certainly enhanced our dining experience. They were two members of a larger band playing some familiar jazz tunes on saxophone and also some unfamiliar Brazilian jazz songs. I could see this restaurant being a place to linger with that special someone, have some drinks, listen to a great band, and have a great meal - A perfect evening out.
This restaurant is a bright shining star in Midlothian; worth visiting either for lunch or dinner. The chance to "savor" something this good so close to home is not to be missed.
